Appealing Your REI
You feel sure your repair score is
wrong. What should you do?
Use the appeal process to get the credit
you deserve! Use the appeals process if:
Not all the repairs you did were taken into account in your score;
You properly repaired a vehicle after another shop caused it to fail its first retest;
A vehicle you worked on got a waiver after refusing to go ahead with repairs
you recommended;
You've obtained additional repair training and want that listed in the
Emissions Repair Guide under your shop's listing.
Save copies of your paperwork! You'll
need to present documentation to appeal your score. Save copies of all
Vehicle Repair Report Forms. Save copies of all written estimates and
recommendations that customers refused. Get it all in writing. Then call
the Repair Industry Coordinator at Envirotest Systems, Mike Knarr, 303-456-7021, or
send an e-mail, and
request an appeal form. It can be faxed or mailed to you.
The appeal form will ask you for:
Name of repair facility
Address, registered phone number, and a contact person
Training information (if you are requesting this change in the
Emissions Repair Guide)
And then for each repaired vehicle
you are including in your appeal:
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
License plate number
Date/time of repairs
Vehicle mileage
Copy of repair paperwork
Mail or fax the form and paperwork
to the Repair Industry Coordinator.
